Legend

The Kapellerput name has existed since time
immemorial. Legend has it that in a far and distant
past a monk built a chapel for the locals of the present-day
Heeze region. These people were in servitude to Black Narob, a robber baron who saw much money to be gained in robbing monasteries. Because the monk had at one time brought Narob’s daughter Venka safely home after becoming lost in the forest, the chapel avoided being plundered and destroyed. Venka and her mother Euvelwinde prayed regularly in the chapel, much to their father and husband’s vexation. One day he discovered that despite this the two women had yet again visited the chapel. This was the straw that broke the camel’s back: he was now to break his promise and immediately raze the chapel to the ground. The pious within were lucky enough to escape his wrath via a secret passageway. As soon as Narob and his men started their plundering of the chapel the earth split open. The chapel disappeared along with its pillagers into the abyss. The still pond water alongside the Kapellerput Conference Hotel now stands in its place.
